The Arbeitsmarktservice (AMS), the Austrian Public Employment Service, will glad Therefore, it is necessary to get registered with the AMSly support you in finding a job. We will advise and guide you regarding the labour market in Austria. We will inform you about job opportunities, help you with German lessons and other qualifications that you might need. Therefore, it is necessary to get registered with the AMS.

Current information on extending the right of residence

The right of residence for displaced persons from Ukraine is extended automatically until 4 March 2025, regardless of the date of validity indicated on the "ID card for displaced persons" ("Ausweis für Vertriebene"). The Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum (Bundesamt für Fremdenwesen und Asyl, BFA) will automatically send a new ID card with extended validity date to all Ukrainians already registered as displaced persons with place of residence in Austria. Important: Please note that you must notify the registration office of any changes to your place of residence, so that the ID card can be sent to you.

Your first visit to the AMS

During your first AMS visit, we collect your personal data, information about your education, professional experience and skills. as well as other information about your person. 

  • Be sure to bring your ID for displaced persons and, if possible, also the completed skills assessment form (download) to your AMS visit.
  • If possible, bring someone with you who can translate the conversation.
